AirBnB is a reservation system. It is no different than Booking.com or Expedia.com the main difference is the cost to the B&B owner and the expectations of the traveller. AirBnB charges the owner a flat rate of $4.50 per night for a reservation while the other reservation systems charge 15% commission. That is a large difference for the owner (on a $150 per night room the difference is $18 per night per reservation ($22.50 - $4.50) that is huge. Many of the B&B owners are putting a room on AirBNB, normally the lowest price room.
People who book through AirBNB have lower expectations than those coming via the other reservations systems and are looking for the lower priced rooms.
In both Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls Bed and Breakfasts must be licensed. The license is call "Short term accommodation" and there is no requirement to serve breakfast. So when it gets down to it, all AirBnB is just another reservation system.
